Recollection is exactly what it infers. The choreography of this duet is reconfigured material from my past four pieces and will be presented as thematic connective tissue, interwoven between these larger pieces in my thesis concert, to be presented in June 2001, at Stanford University. With this piece, both in process and product, I explore the drastic changes that can develop by shifting music and structure. By reducing these phrases from large-scale group works, into a duet form, intimacy and thematic emotion are heightened.
Recollection I, II & III are a series of three small pieces that all investigate the departure from the foundation and support of a home or relationship. Though not in a narrative form, emotional grounding, longing for support, and unconditional investment are explored through the movement and performance relationship created between the dancers.
