Drift: To freely flow- Giving latitude to wander- A simple change of vector- Going towards, but not to something- Like the wind- Shifting- A motion or course of something drifting- mass piled up under wind- float or be driven along as if by current- general intension or meaning- wander without purpose- Afloat without motive, power or mooring- without guidance or purpose... I have noticed in my life that with age comes expansion. With a traditional or even courtly beginning, the piece moves further and further away from formality, unity and a once established community.

Questions that I originally struggled with in connection to both this piece and a paper I was writing in an Education class were: How has all of society’s attention to the “individual” and need to identify with something, destroyed our sense of community? What if the only person that you can identify with is yourself? In collaboration with the dancers and the music of Ari Messer, this piece has truly embodied its title, which of course, came first.
